When in Florida: Six Things to Check Out During Microsoft Ignite 2019

Microsoft Ignite is upon us. Everyone at Opsani is super excited to get to sunny Orlando and dive into discussions about how to innovate cloud infrastructure management.

If you want to stop by and learn about how Opsani’s AI-driven performance is the next step in cloud optimization, we’ll be at booth #241. Feel free to book a time to meet with our CEO here.

However: As fun as Ignite will be, no-one can conference 24/7. To give your brain a break, we’ve compiled an exciting list of things to see in Orlando. Here are the best ways to spend some time while taking a break from Microsoft Ignite 2019:

  1. THE GEEK EASY

This comic book-themed, Super Mario Bros.-plastered bar is tucked away inside a strip mall in Winter Park. The Geek Easy have video games, live performances from local artists, and craft beer. You can catch regular events like open mics, Nerdy Karaoke Nights, movie screenings of your cult favorites, or Geeky Trivia. Check them out here.

  1. BART

In downtown Orlando, you can find another specialty bar that will wake the geek within you. BART is a family-owned bar, arcade, and gallery rolled in one. You can play old-school arcade games while sipping a drink. BART offers an impressive selection of wine and craft beers. How cool would it be to sip on Abita Pecan Harvest Ale while chasing dots on Pacman? See their list of games and beer menu here.

  1. EPCOT

When we think of Orlando, Florida, Disney World first comes to mind. And no Florida trip is complete without a visit to this world-famous theme park. One spot you simply can’t miss is Epcot. There is so much you can do here, and there is something for everyone: from dining at world class restaurants, to Mission: Space, to Showcase (which takes 1.2 miles to cover), to the American Adventure Stage Show, Epcot is a mecca for nerds. Oh, and expect to see Disney characters in the flesh as you walk in.

  1. GODS & MONSTERS

Gods & Monsters is Orlando’s biggest comic store. Located in Artegon Marketplace on International Drive, they offer a wide variety of comic books, character figurines, pop culture memorabilia, and original art. For tabletop gamers, Gods & Monsters also has a lot of seating areas and games that are free-to-play for all visitors.

  1. IT’S A TRAP ESCAPE ROOM

Escape rooms are all the rage these days, with more locations popping up and around International Drive, where you can find the largest selection of hotels in Orlando. Immerse in a live-action, locked-room game at It’s a Trap. This is where teamwork truly matters. Look for clues and solve time-sensitive challenges in story-driven scenarios with your friends.

  1. ORLANDO SCIENCE CENTER

The Orlando Science Center (OSC) is open for some real, hands-on science fun. The OSC features a planetarium, an observatory, nature exhibits, and laser light shows for anyone looking to see a little Laser Zeppelin. Learn about the dynamic ecosystems of Florida on NatureWorks, see STEM-themed artwork at Fusion, and enter the prehistoric era with DinoDigs’ massive exhibits.
